Collateral Damage (These Nightmares)

 These nightmares

Are burning away

Disipating 

Like stars in the sky

While I'm getting lost

In the world of a dream

So I dance with the devil

While a demon's on my back

Searching for heaven

While I'm stuck in this hell

I'm taking my time

Finding my way

Cause nothing else matters

When I'm not myself

Heroes fall asleep

In the dead of night

The moon up high

While I tread a thin line

Wide awake

Cause I feel alive

When darkness rises

Through the bleakest sky

Its alright

I'll be fine

All on my own

Looking out

At the sky

Searching for hope

It may seem 

To be picture pefect

Burning away

With flames 

Out of control 

While losing sight

Of all that we've known

It's all collateral damage 

In the end

 I dont hear your voice anymore

Tell me where'd you go

You left me alone in the dark

Wondering hopelessly

Waiting for something more

Can you see me

Are you even listening

Did you leave me

Cause I can't feel you anywhere

Losing touch with reality

They're speaking to me

It doesn't seem right

Alone in the dark

And it's haunting

Alone in the night

It's never ending

Alone in this head

It won't shut up

Just looking for a way out

Searching for solutions

To all of these questions 

The ghosts come out to play

Searching for the lost 

Seeking out the dammed 

Waiting for war

Waiting for an ending

To come to sight

Are you listening

To the slient screams

To the bated breaths

Of the jaded hearts

Can you see me

Cause I can't hear you 

Did you leave

Cause I can't feel you

Are you listening

Memories Lost

 I remember every heartache

Every broken promise

Left on the table

The long bus rides

To the middle of nowhere

Just to feel 

Like we mattered 

For a moment of time

We said forever

But forever

Wasn't as long 

As we thought

We'd spend some nights

Crying to the morning sky

And others

Having a good fucking time

The rest of the nights

Screaming till no sound came out

Tell me where it all went wrong

Falling apart

Like its our only job

Tell me where 

We lost our touch

And never spoke again

I guess

Pen and paper

Burn too fast

We forgot 

To send a message

Like the bottle

Would get lost

It's a mess

But we lost touch

Everything ends

Didnt think

It would be so soon

New Again

2023 was a weird year. Nothing necessarily bad, but not really good either. It was a year that I took away from this site to learn, step back, and reset. To write without sharing here. It was also a year that in my writing I never truly finished most peices I wrote. This one I wrote for the new year last year.

We're still dreaming of the days

The sun seems to stay

Waiting for the world

To leave disarray 

Existing in a state of stillness 

Like learning to breathe 

And simply be 

For the first time

And this time

I hope you find

What you want

The peace 

That you deserve 

Away from the panic

And everything that hurts

Cause no one's better off

When we're left

Broken in pieces 

We don't need

Another stupid year

For the chance

To start over again

Fresh start whenever 

We feel the need 

To reset

Take the moment

To catch 

Your breath

Dreaming of the last time

We felt like we were free

Intoxicated by life

Lost in the reality

We created

Just to burn it all

Like learning to breathe 

And simply be 

For the first time

Too much time

Has come and gone

Living life

And living small

Just to be lost

In what could have been

Building nightmares 

Instead of building aspiration 

Left behind

Waiting for someone

To let us be

New again

Start Over Again

 Let me take a minute

To say hello

Cause it's been 

Far too long

Since our last goodbye

There's been heartache and war

Devistation and rebuild

I've lost myself

More times than I can count

To the depths of this mind

And the void of the world

But I'm still breathing

Still fighting

Till everything stops spinning round 

I needed something new

Searched high and low

For the thing I've been missing

Hiding from the world

And the darkness it holds

It's lonely drifting away

But there's safety

When there's no one around

To break you even more 

There's a story to be told

There's a light shining through

I'll know it when I see it

When I find the words

To speak my mind

They'll be better days ahead

A darkness drifting away

A mind resting with ease

And a whole world at peace

We're searching for a way

To start over again

Make something new

Without starting from scratch
